Dean continues his series on 'How To Build Your Dream Home.' On Saturday the focus was Part 4 - The Chicken or the Egg? Where does the design process begin?
While your vision for your home may not be crystal clear, there's always something, ONE THING, that is at the front of your mind when you start this process; THAT is where you should start.
You don't have to be an architect, home designer, contractor, or builder to create your dream home, but you do need to be the captain of your team; it's YOUR home, and no one is going to care about it more than you.
Be your own 'whisperer!' Educating yourself during the process is the most important thing to be successful, and use the SEVEN senses you have (yes, there are seven!): sight, sound, smell, touch, taste, movement/balance, and proprioception (the sense that lets you perceive the location, movement, and action parts of the body) will ensure you are the Captain of your project.
On Sunday, Dean focused on Part 5 - Understanding the Pillars of Design. The first pillar of design is sight, the first look in each space can help determine your focal points for each room and help the design process move along.
