Can You DIG It? Call 811 First To Find Out!

Have you ever called '811'?

If not, now's the time!

This coming Tuesday is August 11th, or 8/11, which is also National "Call Before You Dig" Day!

Why? Because 811 is also the national call-before-you-dig phone number!

Anyone who plans to dig should call 811, or go to their state 811 center’s website, before digging. (This even includes common projects like planting trees and shrubs, or installing fences and mailboxes...)

When you call before you dig, you can request that the approximate location of buried utilities be marked with paint or flags, so that you don’t unintentionally dig into an underground utility line.

After you call 811, then you should wait just a few days before breaking ground to ensure that all utilities have responded to your request. Once all utilities have marked their buried lines, you're ready to dig!
