Dean Sharp is here to explain all things power tools!!
The most important thing to remember when it comes to safety is to be safe.
The House Whisperer believes we shouldn't have fear towards our tool. Fear leads to the dark side (and accidents) but HEALTHY RESPECT for the tools is the way to go.
For safety, there are things you need to have on before you can start using your power tools.
- Face shield
- Tactile gloves
- Safety glasses
- Clothes
- Shirts
- Pants
- Boots
Now that we have our safety gear down, it's almost important to be aware of which tools are the most dangerous.
5 most dangerous tools:
table saw
nail gun
chain saw
circular saw
ladder
Watch Dean explain how to use some tools below:
Did you get a saw? The House Whisperer shares tips on how to use each one differently.
Worm Drive Circular Saw
secure the wood
know how the blade cuts up from below
start the motor away from the material
stand to the side so a kick back misses your body
begin slowly
let the cut fall open
Sidewinder Circular Saw
ditto, but for the opposite hand
Corded Reciprocating Saw
press table guard firmly against the material AND press down to cut
Cordless Reciprocating Saw -
good starter, less torque, but maybe all you need
Jigsaw

must press down the nose
Miter saw
great training saw!
