Ring, in partnership with Watch Duty, has launched a new feature called 'Fire Watch' to enhance community safety during wildfires.

This feature integrates into the Neighbors section of the Ring app and aims to provide real-time, ground-truth information to both communities and first responders during active fire events.

'Fire Watch' is comprised of three key components:

Real-Time Fire Alerts from Watch Duty
AI-Powered Smoke and Fire Detection
Voluntary Community Contribution

These features are designed to keep users informed and safer during wildfire events. Ring camera owners can voluntarily share snapshots with Watch Duty to enhance fire reporting and support first responders.

In a press release, John Mills, Co-founder and CEO of Watch Duty said:

Watch Duty, a nonprofit organization, has expanded its coverage nationwide, providing verified, real-time wildfire information. Founded in 2021, Watch Duty has become a trusted source for wildfire alerts, offering services such as air quality index, wind direction, and red-flag warnings. The organization aims to transform disaster information sharing by prioritizing people over profit.

The 'Fire Watch' feature will begin rolling out nationwide this spring, providing communities with timely emergency alerts and critical insights. By leveraging technology and community involvement, Ring and Watch Duty aim to enhance public safety and ensure that no one faces disaster without crucial information.
