The ongoing Covid situation has affected local small businesses and many are struggling to stay open. In an effort to help those small businesses survive, we are featuring them in a segment we call #SmallBusinessShoutout brought to you by SoCal Gas Company.
Today we'd like to introduce you to Armando Ramirez and El Portal Restaurant in Pasadena!
Armando says that he started working in restaurants with his dad when he was just 14 years old. Eventually, his family achieved the American dream by opening their own successful restaurants.
Then covid hit, and like many other small businesses they were struggling to stay afloat.
Both his family's restaurants, El Portal and Yahaira's Cafe were lucky to be able to continue outdoor dining when Los Angeles county banned issue the recent order to close down. But Pasadena remained defiant, and continued outdoor dining in the city. But now, because of an increase in covid cases, they're shut down even for that.
BUT...they're still open for take out and delivery!
