#TastyTuesday - Quality meat is easier to get because of COVID-19

COVID-19 has impacted out lives mostly in a negative way, but if you're a fan of surf and turf then there might be a little ray of sunshine for you! Because so many restaurants have had to drastically change the way they do business or shut down entirely, high quality meat and seafood are more available to buy and cook at home.

Maeve Webster, President of Menu Matters, told The Huffington Post:

“I’ve never seen lobster so cheap. I think the least I’ve ever paid before is $7 a pound. At that price, I even bought a little extra and we had lobster rolls the next day. I’m noticing that prime cuts of beef are consistently available at grocery stores. It is more expensive than other cuts, like those labeled ‘choice,’ but I’m finding it to be far more affordable than it ever was before the pandemic.”

Usually restaurants get their pick of the good stuff first, but with historically low restaurant sales suppliers still need to sell their stuff. That means depending on the area you live in, you could cook a fancy restaurant-style meal at home for a pretty good price!

Lamb, lobster, fancy cuts of beef, they could all be yours! Our good friend and Fork Reporter Neil Saavedra joined us more to discuss. Listen below!
