Dodger baseball is almost back, finally! Yesterday the boys in blue played their first televised intra-squad game, but it wasn't the regulars who made an impression. It was a clubhouse attendant named Francisco "Chico" Herrera.
Chico was playing left field when he caught a fly ball and with his rocket of an arm, shot the ball down to home plate to keep a runner at third base.
You don't tug on Superman's cape, you don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the Lone Ranger, and you don't run on Chico!
Chico's lugged around equipment for the Dodgers for years and has done everything from packing/unpacking lockers, washing cars, manning foul lines and organizing the dugout. It's grunt work, but it sounds like some of the greatest grunt work of all time!
He also throws batting practice for the players in the cage, and it sounds like all the guys there love him. We love Chico too!
