Well, it looks like the fine folks camped out in Seattle's Capitol Hill Occupied Protest zone (CHOP) are going to pack up and get out. A Tweet from CHOP "officials" said the "project is now concluded," but there are still a number of protesters in the area demanding 50 percent cuts to the police budget.
They also want funds directed toward community efforts such as restorative justice, and want to make sure protesters who have been arrested will not be prosecuted. A couple of weeks ago we checked in with Jaryyd, our man on the inside of the CHOP.
Jaryyd says his days there are numbered, and he'll probably make his way to Portland by stealing people's wallets when they're not looking. It's kind of a bummer time for him right now to be honest.
