Today's #SmallBusinessShoutout features West Coast Music Academy! West Coast Music Academy has been in business in Santa Clarita since 2008, and in 2017 they opened another location in Granada Hills. They teach private music lessons to kids and adults of all ages, and at their peak had almost 900 students. Since the outbreak of COVID-19, they've had to move all lessons online with over 600 students taking lessons virtually.
West Coast Music Academy also offers free master classes on such topics as music production and songwriting.
Today we spoke with Jeff Novack, who is the Founder and Director of the Academy. Jeff a graduate of Berklee College of Music and The University of North Texas. Before starting the school he toured the world as bassist for a variety of artists and productions including Engelbert Humperdinck, The Kennedy Center national touring production of "Harlem" and with underground sensation Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine.
In 2016 WCMA was one of 5 finalists in the National Music School of the Year contest. Also, in 2019, Jeff was selected from among hundreds of applicants to take part in the Goldman Sachs' 10,000 Small Businesses program to promote business growth and development.
