On February 12, 1994, Cathy Torrez finished her shift at Sav-On, but she never made it home.
The 20-year-old Cal Sate Fullerton honor student was ultimately found a week later in the trunk of her own car with dozens of stab wounds and cuts to her wrists and neck.
For 21 years, the case remained unsolved and justice remained undelivered.
Cathy's mother, Mary Bennett, never gave up the search for her daughter's killer, maintaining her belief that the truth would come out.
Then, on May 1, 2015, Sam Lopez confessed to the murder.
Lopez, Cathy's ex-boyfriend and neighbor, came forward, explained the entire story, from beginning to end.
