A 13-year-old Texas girl who was kidnapped and taken to California is safe and sound after she flashed a “help me” sign to a passing motorist.
As a result, 61-year-old Steven Robert Sablan has been arrested and charged with one count of kidnapping and one count of transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, records reveal. Investigators say Sablan kidnapped the girl by gunpoint as she walked down a San Antonio street on July 6th. He then sexually assaulted her “multiple times” as he drove her to California, police say.
Sablan was busted three days later after the girl managed to scrawl “help me” on a piece of paper and put it in the back window of the car, police say. A passerby called police and Sablan was taken into custody, according to his arrest report. A search of his vehicle revealed his weapon was actually a B.B. gun, police say.
