On Monday (June 12), numerous Reddit moderators took the step of closing down their subreddits to voice their opposition to Reddit's recently implemented app policy.
According to the new policy, companies would be required to pay for access to Reddit's application programming interface (API). The API enables the retrieval of specific content and threads from Reddit.
This decision by Reddit has generated significant controversy, as the platform argues that the content it hosts is currently being utilized without charge to enhance various artificial intelligence (AI) systems.
