Officials said that robbers seized a container containing $15 million in gold from a Toronto airport in a spectacular daytime theft.
According to Peel Regional Police Inspector Stephen Duivesteyn, the event happened on Monday after a plane's cargo was unloaded at Pearson International Airport.
"Once this cargo was offloaded at a holding facility, subsequent to its arrival, this high value container was removed by illegal means from the holding facility," Duivesteyn says. "This cargo was reported missing to the Peel Regional Police a short time later and an investigation has commenced."
As of Friday, authorities had not named any suspects in the case, according to Duivesteyn.
