California legislators have proposed keeping the state's last power plant open for an additional amount of time.
The Diablo Canyon Plant was set to shut down in 2025, but could now stay open for five additional years... The extension comes via a $1.4 billion loan for the plant's owner, Pacific Gas & Electric.
The plant is currently the state's largest source of electricity.
California has a goal of receiving all electricity through clean and renewable sources by the year 2045.
