25-year-old New Jersey man, Scott V. Spina Jr., was given a three-year sentence in federal prison after he pretended to be a former New England Patriots player to acquire and sell Super Bowl rings that he said were gifts for Tom Brady's family.
- On February 1, Spina pled guilty to one count of mail fraud, three counts of wire fraud, and one count of aggravated identity theft for impersonating a former Patriots player.
- The judge also mandated that Spina pay $63,000 in restitution to the former Patriots player, identified as T.J., who sold Spina the real Super Bowl ring.
- Is a three year prison sentence enough of a punishment?
