Steven McCraw, the head of Texas Public Safety, has criticized the response of Uvalde police during last month's mass shooting at Robb Elementary.
- Talking to a State Senate committee in Austin, McCraw called the actions of the local police “an abject failure.”
- McCraw also commented that Uvalde police had the proper equipment and resources to enter the classroom.
“There’s no way to lock the door from the inside,” McCraw added. “And there’s no way for the subject to lock the door from the inside."
McCraw continued, “I don’t believe, based on the information that we have right now, that that door was ever secured. The door was unsecured.”
