NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter appears to have had a close encounter that would've made Jim Henson proud.
Dotting the surface of the Red Planet's southern pole is, apparently, a geological formation that looks just like Dr. Bunsen Honeydew's sidekick, Beaker.
Astronomers from the University of Arizona's Lunar and Planetary Laboratory shared a photo of the formation on Twitter early Monday morning:

I think we can all sleep soundly tonight knowing that science has once again pulled through, and it looks to us like alien life has, for the most part, been confirmed.
Just jokin' there, bub. The image is obviously just a geological formation, but you never know. Maybe there IS something there, and all of us sarcastic folks are the ones getting the joked pulled on...
Dr. Ed Krupp, director of Griffith Park Observatory called into the show last week to talk about the Perseid Meteor Shower, and also touched on the great possibility that humans are indeed alone in the universe.
