California Supreme Court Blocks Measure To Break State Into Three Parts

Today the California Supreme Court blocked a proposal to split the state into three from appearing as a ballot measure in November.

The measure would have split California into three new states: Northern California, California and Southern California.

The proposal gathered at least 600,000 signatures, which were enough for it to earn a spot on the midterm ballot.  However, the court said that it decided to remove the measure from the ballot “because significant questions have been raised regarding the proposition’s validity.”

If this proposal had been approved by voters in November, it would still need to be approved by the California State Legislature and by Congress.

What are your thoughts on splitting California into three sections?
