Small Business Shout Out- I Am Movement

I AM Movement is a gym for adults with special needs and the elderly in Irvine. This woman-owned business run by a mother/daughter duo uses fitness and friendship to create a community. Its mission is to empower and inspire people so they can enhance their quality of life and be their own hero. One program targets and challenges the symptoms of Parkinson's disease slowing their progression so people can live fuller lives longer. Parkinson's is a disease without a cure, but studies indicate focused intense exercise combats symptoms. Other classes include adaptive boxing for neurodivergent adults and Zumba Gold.

SPECIAL OFFER: Mention KFI and get $25 off first month of Parkinson's boxing classes.

Take a listen to co-owners Nel and Timorei tell us all about I AM Movement

I AM Movement's boxing program for people with Parkinson's disease and their personal training classes for adults on the spectrum. Zumba classes for seniors will be rolling out shortly. Given their ill-fated launch date (the week the lockdown was enforced in March 2020) they pivoted to virtual classes and started with their PD classes because people with Parkinson's kept reaching out. This is currently their largest program. I AM Movement is all about community so they host free events on useful topics. Last week they had an interactive seminar led by a music therapist who uses vocal exercises to help people with Parkinson's speak louder and clearer. Next month they're having a seminar called Ask the Neurologist where people can ask Dr. Nita Chen about Parkinson's related medications, treatments, therapies, etc. They also have an on-site PT clinic called Forever Young Therapy which is convenient for their members. Think of I AM Movement as your grandparents' gym, that is if your granny packs a punch! Their oldest boxer is 89.
