May is National BBQ Month. Organized by Ian and Qiana Mafnas, proprietors of the wildly popular Axiom Kitchen Smoked Meats & BBQ, close to a dozen BBQ vendors will gather at Trademark Brewing on Saturday, May 13, 1-8pm and will be offering their smoked, sauced and rubbed specialties to BBQ lovers for Inaugural Long Beach BBQ Fest. Ian and Qiana Mafnas met as ADDICTS eleven years ago and have been in trouble with the law in the past. They separated for a time, but then reunited and decided to do things the right way; they got clean and started the BBQ pop-up and married in 2021.
Ian and Qiana Mafnas are a husband and wife pitmaster/executive chef team, that have over 20 years of restaurant experience between the two. Ian has been developing his love for smoking meats over a period of eight years, and Qiana has worked in some of the finest restaurants in California.
