'Black Restaurant Week' originated in Houston, Texas back in April of 2016. Created by co-founders Derek Robinson, Falayn Ferell and Warren Luckett, they wanted to find a way to devote more attention to the African American, African and Caribbean cuisines in their neighborhoods.
And this August, they're bringing the event (back) to Los Angeles for a two-week showcase!
Celebrate the flavors of African-American, African, and Caribbean cuisine for L.A. Black Restaurant Week by dining at one of the participating restaurants August 7 – August 16.
“It’s a way to uplift the Black restaurants in our community and really support the movement that the coalition supports, which is dine Black,” said Jade Stevens, founder of the Black Restaurant Coalition. “Past the #supportBlackbusiness and the other hashtags, it doesn’t stop. Supporting Black is 365 days a year.”
