If you were tuned in to the show today, one of our listeners, Art O'Hare shared a family recipe that dates back from the 1970's. It has been past down for generations and he was gracious enough to share it with us!
Chocolate Chip Squares:
1 1/3 cup crisco
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar (packed)
3 cups flour (sifted)
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 oz bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375*.
In a mixer cream together shorting and sugar until light in color.
Add eggs and mix until combined.
Then add dry ingredients: flour, salt and baking soda.
Finally, add vanilla and chocolate chips. Mix until just combined.
Grease and flour a 9x13 pan and put batter into pan. Cook at 375* for 20-25 minutes.
