The business that makes tortilla chips is taking the product off shop shelves after challenging customers to eat one chip made with two of the hottest peppers on earth.

The action was taken in response to an adolescent who died, according to his family, after swallowing the chip.

Hershey Foods said, “The Paqui One Chip Challenge is intended for adults only, with clear and prominent labeling highlighting the chip is not for children. We have seen an increase in teens and other individuals not heeding these warnings.”

Harris Wolobah, 14, ate the chip as one of his final meals before passing away. Wolobah's mother told The New York Times that she thought the chip had something to do with his death, although the exact reason of his death is not yet known.
