President Biden and the first lady are heading to Puerto Rico to meet with families and survey damage from Hurricane Fiona.
Fiona hit the US territory last month, knocking out power to millions of residents.
The President is expected to announce more than $60 million dollars in funds from the bipartisan infrastructure law to build up the island’s defenses against future storms.
The funding will help shore up levees, strengthen flood walls and create a new flood warning system to better prepare residents for future storms.
After the visit to Puerto Rico, the president will make his way to Florida to see the damage from the more recent Hurricane Ian.
