Almost $3 million has been raised for the 2-year-old boy who lost both of his parents in the Fourth of July mass shooting in Highland Park.
Irina Colon set up the GoFundMe for Aiden McCarthy after reading his parents were among the seven people who were killed at the parade.
"At two years old, Aiden is left in the unthinkable position: to grow up without his parents...He is surrounded by a community of friends and extended family that will embrace him with love, and any means available to ensure he has everything he needs as he grows."
McCarthy was found under the body of his 37-year-old dad, who apparently died while attempting to shield his son from the gunfire.
The suspect in the incident has been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder.
