A lawsuit filed by Gabby Petito's parents against the parents of her boyfriend and suspected killer Brian Laundrie is headed to court for the first time.
The suit claims that Laundrie's parents knew their son had murdered Petito and instead of alerting the authorities, they went on a camping trip with their son.
An attorney for the Laundries will seek to dismiss the suit, claiming the two had no legal obligation to discuss the case with anyone.
Petito's disappearance on a cross-country trip with Laundrie last summer dominated headlines and suspicion was sparked when he returned home to Florida without her in August.
Petito was later found dead in September and almost a month later, Laundrie was found dead from an apparent suicide, along with a notebook in which he confessed to killing his girlfriend.
