A woman, 19, in South Florida intentionally fled law enforcement in the Florida Keys, telling the deputy who ultimately caught up to her that getting arrested was on her “bucket list.”

Homestead native Janiya Shaimiracle Douglas was charged with fleeing and eluding, said the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

Douglas’s Toyota sedan was seen “speeding and driving recklessly” just before 8 a.m. EST on Thursday morning on Card Sound Road in Key Largo. When the deputy turned his lights and siren on, Douglas did not immediately stop.

After pulling over several miles later at the intersection of Card Sound Road and Overseas Highway, she shared with the deputy that it had been on her bucket list to be arrested since she was in high school.

Just another day in Florida.
