Sometimes a country comes up with a great idea and it makes you wish you had thought of it first.
This is one of those ideas.
New Zealand's department of corrections needed to reduce tensions with inmates during the country's last heatwave.
There was a large increase in prison numbers which meant the risk of violent incidents were increasing due to the hot conditions.
So they decided to get slushie machines.
I mean, what a GREAT idea.
Who doesn't feel better after having a slushie?
It's hot and these inmates are in prison. It's easy to want to fight, but how can you fight after having a few slushies.
Of course, there are people who are destined to ruin the fun and are actively voicing their disagreement with the purchase. It may be because New Zealand invested a million dollar into these slushie machines. Who cares though? It's so worth it.
Acting national commissioner of police Andy Milne defended the purchase, saying: “The situation had the potential for significantly increased prisoner tension and aggression, and the real risk that prisoners or staff would be seriously hurt as a result.”
You go New Zealand, it is a GREAT idea. Other people are just jealous they didn't think of it first.
