LA Mayor Eric Garcetti and members of the City Council have approved a raise for police officers of up to 5% but didn't make any changes to the controversial DROP program that pays veteran cops and firefighters nearly double their salary in the last few years of their careers.
The police union overwhelmingly approved the new one-year contract. Details of the raises set to go into effect are a 5% pay increase for patrol officers and up to 4.5% increase for detectives.
