Where To Celebrate Día de los Muertos In Southern California

Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a yearly event that celebrates the memories of our loved ones who have passed through Aztec rituals, Catholic beliefs, and altars containing offerings in their memory.

The celebration occurs on November 1st and 2nd and is not meant to be a sad occasion but a happy one. Festivities typically include lively music, dancing, and delicious food. If you're looking to participate in Day of the Dead events, here are some celebrations happening in Southern California:

  • Bowers Museum
    • When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 5
    • Where: 2002 North Main St., Santa Ana
    • Cost: Free
  • City of Moreno Valley Day of the Dead
    • When: 6-10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27
    • Where: Moreno Valley Civic Amphitheater, 14075 Frederick St, Moreno Valley.

    • When: 2-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28
