The Unbuilt Disneyland Expansion in California

Disney attempted to create a second park in California in the 1990s.

The park was to be called Port Disney and would be located in Long Beach. Port Disney would have a theme park, six hotels, shopping and dining districts, and, most notably, a cruise ship port where the Disney Cruise Line would dock.

Disney had to go through a lot of red tape with local, state, and federal officials, but there was also an environmental evaluation of the project to see what the park's planned environmental impact would be.

All of these led to Disney abandoning the Port Disney park concept.
