Riverside County Animal Services is looking for volunteers to help them help animals during disasters.
These volunteers would be part of the REARS, Riverside Emergency Animal Rescue System team. These volunteers are trained by Riverside County Animal services to assist the department in large-scale emergencies like wildfires to help rescue, evacuate, shelter and care for animals in need.
Josh Sisler, Commander of Field Services for the County of Riverside says:
"These dedicated volunteers have been an amazing resource for us, and county residents, during crisis events."
There's an orientation meeting to find out more about it on Saturday Feb. 25th at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter at 6851 Van Buren Blvd in Jurupa Valley.
Here's the link to more information and here's the link where you can download the application. Interested volunteers should email Lieutenant James Huffman at shelterinfo@rivco.org
Josh Sisler joined us this morning to talk more about the team and how people can get involved.
