We want to give a HUGE shoutout to Long Beach Animal Care Services because 2022 was a record breaking year for them for pet adoptions!
Last year, they placed 1,961 pets into 'fur'ever homes, and 500 more were placed into foster homes, crushing their own goal of placing 1,500 pets.
Long Beach Mayor, Rex Richardson, says the staff at Animal Care Services has put a big focus on community engagement with their 'Compassion Saves' model focusing on outreach, education and support services to help encourage adoptions. 40 fun community events and donation drives got the word out about animals who needed homes and obviously the plan worked.
Brent Dennis, Director of the Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine joined Jennifer on Wake Up Call this morning to talk about the incredible work Long Beach Animal Care Services has done so far and what's next for them.
Long Beach Animal Care Services is open for adoptions (no appointment needed) Wednesday through Sunday. For more information and specific daily hours, check out their website. You can also schedule a time to meet an adoptable animal by calling 562-570-7387.
