A teen has been arrested for giving out fake parking tickets to cars in Santa Cruz.
Nineteen-year-old Damian Vela is accused of posting these faux tickets to scam people out of money when they would use his QR code to pay the supposed fine.
Vela is charged with unlawful use of a computer system and attempted fraud.
When police arrested Vela, they found evidence related to the scam in his vehicle.
Though authorities aren't sure how many people paid the bogus citations, Vela claims he did not receive any payments when he admitted to the crime.
The Santa Cruz department is urging anyone who may be a victim of the fraud, and ask those who think they received these tickets to contact its investigations unit.
