Costume Goofy Head Sells for $19,000 at Auction

A Goofy costume head once worn at the Magic Kingdom has been sold off for $19,000.

The piece sold at an auction of Disney-related items by Van Eaton Galleries for almost three times its original estimate which was originally between $4,000-$6,000.

The gallery periodically auctions off privately owned Disney artifacts from all over the world and the recent offering of the costume head was described as “incredibly rare” and dating back to the 1990s.

Other items that fetched high bids include;

A Park Hopper character costume displayed on the same page of the Van Eaton catalog sold for $3,500, topping the estimate of between $1,000 and $2,000.
Several Epcot-related items were overachievers. An 8.5-inch bronze sculpture of Figment and Dreamfinder sculpted by Bill Toma, estimated to draw between $200 and $400, brought in $3,000. A large 1990 site plant print of Epcot by John Horney went for $3,200. Its estimate was $600-$800. A Spaceship Earth “cast members only” aluminum sign sold for $2,000, above the estimate of $300-$500.
