A class-action lawsuit filed in Canada claims that Fortnite is addictive and harmful to children.
The suit was filed on behalf of a group of parents who claim their kids play the game so much, it caused them to suffer panic attacks, withdraw from family, spend money on in-game currency and even caused them to stop eating and sleeping just to play.
One parent claimed their kid played almost 8,000 hours in less than two years and another said their son played almost 7,000 hours.
The suit against Epic Games goes back to 2019, but was recently approved by Justice Sylvain Lussie who says that the lawsuit "does not appear frivolous or manifestly ill-founded".
“The court concludes that there is a serious issue to be argued, supported by sufficient and specific allegations as to the existence of risks or even dangers arising from the use of Fortnite.”
