Daily Harvest says it has identified the ingredient causing hundreds of its customers to become ill
Tara flour, made from the seed of the tara tree, is used in Daily Harvest’s French Lentil & Leek Crumbles and was identified as the culprit causing 96 hospitalizations and 277 reports of illness around the country.
The FDA has been investigating complaints of “gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function” related to the product
Daily Harvest released a statement yesterday saying:
“At this time, we have identified tara flour as the cause of the issue. We have only used this ingredient in French Lentil + Leek Crumbles and we are no longer sourcing from this producer.”
The company is facing several lawsuits from people who got sick after eating the product, two of which are on the behalf of children.
