Taking in one dog is a challenge.
They require and deserve attention, love, and care.
Imagine taking in over 100.
That's right, Theoklitos Proestakis of Crete, is constantly taking in lost dogs and making them his own.
How did Proestakis get to owning hundreds of dogs? Well, it took one dog six years ago that changed his life forever.
He visited a local garage dump in his hometown and he saw the injured dog within the trash. Proestakis knew he couldn't leave the dog like that and took on the responsibility to take the dog to the veterinarian. But he doesn't just stop there, he then makes sure the dog gets all the medical care it desperately needed.
At this time, he didn't have the necessary room for the dog so he took the dog back to the area he found it in and came by everyday to make sure he was taken care of.
As time went on, more dogs began to appear from the trash and something changed for Proestakis. He knew he had to take care of each and every single one that he came across and eventually he was caring for hundreds of dog every single day.
It was in this moment that he knew this was his life's purpose.
"Everything happens for a reason," Proestakis told CBS News. "I think I was born for this. I love it so much."
