In an effort to avert a strike that might start as early as next week, UPS will pick up negotiations with the Teamsters union this week.
On Monday, July 31st, the existing labor agreement is slated to expire, and the union, which is made up of more than 340,000 UPS workers, has already authorized a strike if one cannot be agreed.
A strike would significantly affect the American economy and supply chain. UPS handles about one-fourth of all items delivered in the United States.
