Brandon Tsay, The Hero Who Interfered With The Lunar New Year Massacre

Brandon Tsay is the hero that helped put an end on what could’ve been another tragedy as he and his family help run the Lai Lai Ballroom & Studio in Alhambra, Calif., The family were hosting a group of people who were there to celebrate the Lunar New Year on Saturday.

Tsay shared on an interview with Good Morning America that he noticed a man walk into the venue, holding a gun and how the suspect was exploring the studio to possibly plan out his potential victims.

According to ABC NEWS, "He started prepping the weapon and something came over me," said Tsay.

That’s when he decided to take matters into his own hands and attempt to disarm the man to help avoid any casualties.

Tsay added, "When I got the courage, I lunged at him with both my hands, grabbed the weapon and we had a struggle," he added. "We struggled into the lobby, trying to get this gun away from each other. He was hitting me across the face, bashing the back of my head."

There was a struggle between the two but eventually Tsay was able to pull the firearm away and directed the weapon towards the suspect and yelled: "Get the hell out of here! I'll shoot! Get away! Go!"

"I really thought I would have to shoot him and he came at me. This is when he turned around and walked out the door, jogged back to his van. I immediately called police with the gun still in my hand."

Tsay recalled, the suspect just standing there and calculating out his next move. "I really thought I would have to shoot him and he came at me. This is when he turned around and walked out the door, jogged back to his van. I immediately called police with the gun still in my hand."

The suspect was identified as Huu Can Tran, a 72-year-old who was responsible for the shooting over at the Star Dance Studio around the Monterey Park area a few minutes earlier, killing at least 11 people and injuring others.

Police located Tran's white van in Torrance, when officers pulled behind the van in patrol cars, the vehicle entered a shopping center parking lot. When officers exited their patrol car to approach the van, they heard one gunshot coming from inside the vehicle.

Officers discovered Tran dead from a self-inflicted gunshot injury, according to authorities.
