Millions of Americans are having their holiday plans ruined by the severe winter storm that has descended on the country, and things are only getting worse.

According to FlightAware, more than 11,000 incoming and departing flights have been canceled or delayed as of Friday afternoon. That number increased from 4,400 just a few hours before.

Flights aren't the only thing the storm is disrupting. According to the National Weather Service, train and bus service has been halted in a number of American cities as temperatures drop by 40 or 50 degrees. Even if you live in a location that hasn't been touched by the storm, the risky circumstances could cause your Christmas gifts to arrive later than expected. FedEx reports that delays at its distribution hubs will certainly cause deliveries of all kinds to be delayed.
