Despite condemnation from Ukraine, the U.S. and other nations, Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a ceremony to annex four regions of Ukraine.
After holding referendum 'votes' -- which were heavily orchestrated by Russia -- Putin has declared the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions to now be part of Russia.
The move has been dismissed as an illegal land-grab by the UN and international leaders.
“The United States condemns Russia’s fraudulent attempt today to annex sovereign Ukrainian territory,” Biden said in a statement. “Russia is violating international law, trampling on the United Nations Charter, and showing its contempt for peaceful nations everywhere.”
