Senator Cory Booker Violates Senate Rules During Kavanaugh Hearing

U.S. Senator Cory Booker released confidential documents during the Supreme Court questioning of nominee Brett Kavanaugh this week.

Joined by Democratic Senator Mazie Hirono from Hawaii, they knowingly released documents that were previously labeled confidential by a veteran Republican lawyer who has also represented some of Trump's officials.

Booker brought up the documents when he asked Kavanaugh about an email involving minorities.

He says the email "described preferences for minorities who faced discrimination as a naked racial set-aside," according to nj.com.

"I come from a long line, as all of us do as Americans, understand what that kind of civil disobedience is and I understand the consequences," Sen. Booker said.

"No senator deserves to sit on this committee or serve in the Senate in my view if they decide to be a law unto themselves," Texas Senator John Cornyn said.

These papers were considered "committee confidential" because they were released to members of the committee, and not to be seen by the public.
