Man who led police on chase to Port of LA got nude, fell off crane and died

Coroners have identified the suspected car thief who plummeted to his death from a loading crane in the Port of Los Angeles after leading police on a crazy chase across the city.

The man was 23-year-old James Llamas. He led cops to the port and then ditched the car and climbed as high as he could on one of the cranes, making his way out on to a beam not meant for people to walk on.

He stood on the crane hundreds of feet in the air for hours dancing, rolling around, and then took his clothes off and was totally nude.

The standoff finally ended when Llamas fell from the crane and died. Port officials said that the LAPD are investigating the security breach that led Llamas to climb the crane:

"This thorough review, including protocols necessary to address improvements, will be completed as soon as possible."
