Probationer Charged With Attempted Murder in Santa Monica Stabbings

SANTA MONICA (CNS) - A probationer suspected of stabbing two German tourists near the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica was charged with attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, the District Attorney's Office announced Tuesday.

Larry Ameyal Cedeno, 29, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at the Airport Courthouse. The charges include allegations that he used a knife and caused great bodily injury to the victims, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Cedeno was arrested Sunday shortly after the stabbings in the 1500 block of Fourth Street, near Broadway and Parking Structure 7, around 8 p.m. Sunday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Cedeno was on probation for larceny, police said.
