LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Authorities Friday identified a woman who was fatally struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash near the Leimert Park neighborhood, and detectives sought the public's help to find the motorist.
Officers sent to Crenshaw Boulevard and Homeland Drive about 10:30 p.m. Thursday found the woman lying in the street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Gail Regina McNeil, 65, of Los Angeles, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner.
"A vehicle described as a possible tan-colored sedan was traveling southbound on Crenshaw Boulevard and collided into a pedestrian," according to the LAPD. "The (driver) failed to stop, render aid, and remain at scene as required by law. The vehicle was last seen going southbound on Victoria Avenue from Vernon Avenue."
A standing reward of up to $50,000 has been offered by the city of Los Angeles for information that helps solve a fatal hit-and-run.
