MARINA DEL REY (CNS) - A three-alarm fire ripped through a Marina del Rey apartment building Thursday, damaging about 30 units and injuring two people, including a firefighter.

Los Angeles County fire crews responded at 2:48 p.m. Thursday to the Mariner's Village apartment complex in the 4600 block of Via Marina. Flames and smoke could be seen shooting through the roof of the three-story building.

The fire quickly went to a second alarm, then to a third, as county and city fire crews worked to battle the flames.

The fire on the first and second floors was contained just after 5 p.m. while fire crews worked to control the flames on the third floor. The fire was declared a full knockdown shortly before 6 p.m.

An LACFD spokesman said a firefighter sustained unspecified minor injuries while battling the fire and was taken to a hospital. Another person was taken to a hospital with burn injuries.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.
