LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Fire crews were battling a small brush fire Wednesday in the Cahuenga Peak area near Griffith Park.

The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. in the remote area, burning on both sides of a ridgeline in the area of Mount Lee.

According to spokesman Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department, three firefighting aircraft were dispatched to the scene due to the difficulty confronting ground crews to access the blaze. Initial reports put the size of the fire at about a quarter-acre.

It was unclear what sparked the fire, however, two hikers could be seen on the ridgeline, with one of them darting back and forth in the burn area.

Fire crews on the scene requested the assistance of the Los Angeles Police Department for a possible arson investigation.
