Suspect Fatally Shot By Sheriff's Deputy at Carson Gas Station Identified

CARSON (CNS) - The 34-year-old man shot and killed by a sheriff's deputy at a Carson gas station was identified Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office.

The shooting occurred at 2:20 a.m. Monday in the 17400 block of South Central Avenue, near Artesia Boulevard, according to the Sheriff's Information Bureau.

Arturo Cernas was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff's officials and the medical examiner's office. His place of resident was not disclosed.
