CULVER CITY (CNS) - Authorities Tuesday identified a woman who died in a Culver City residence where a juvenile was arrested by police officers sent there on a report of a family disturbance.
Officers went to the 5000 block of Showboat Place about 11:15 p.m. Saturday, said Sgt. Edward Baskaron of the Culver City Police Department.
Linda Valachovic, 53, died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner. An autopsy was pending to determine her cause of death.
"Police officers responded to a call of a family disturbance ...," Baskaron said in a statement. "Officers made entry into location and detained the juvenile suspect at the scene. The officers located the victim in the residence and immediately began life saving measures by administering CPR."
Paramedics arrived and continued treating the woman, but she was pronounced dead, Baskaron said.
"CCPD detectives and forensics (personnel) were called to the scene to further investigate," Baskaron said. "The juvenile suspect was arrested and transported to CCPD without incident."
Information was not released regarding the suspect's name, age or gender, or on the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the woman who died. The case was classified by police as a homicide investigation.
Anyone with any information on the case was urged to call Baskaron at 310-253-6316 or the watch commander at 310-253-6202.
